On 20 December 2023, H.E. Dr Noel Camilleri presented his Letters of Credence as non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to H.E. Salome Zourabichvili, President of Georgia. H.E. Salome Zourabichvili welcomed H.E. Dr Camilleri as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malta to Georgia. The ceremony took place at the Presidential Palace in Tbilisi, the Georgian capital.
Following the ceremony, the Office of the President of Georgia hosted a small reception for the newly appointed non-resident Ambassadors. During this event, H.E. Ambassador Dr Noel Camilleri held a brief informal encounter with H.E. President Zourabichvili, recalling the excellent bilateral ties between Malta and Georgia, as well as Malta’s solid support to Georgia’s constructive path towards European Integration.
The Presentation of Letters of Credence of H.E. Dr Camilleri was preceded by the Presentation of the Copies D’Usage of the Maltese Ambassador-Designate to H.E. Teimuraz Janjalia, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, on 19 December 2023. This event was followed by an intense meeting held between the two sides at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia in Tbilisi. Both H.E.Teimuraz Janjalia and H.E. Dr Noel recalled the excellent bilateral relations between the Republic of Malta and Georgia. Later discussions focused on Malta’s support to Georgia’s path towards European Integration, Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in light of Malta’s 2024 OSCE Chairmanship, prospects for deeper bilateral cooperation between Malta and Georgia, as well as Malta’s support to Georgia’s candidatures.
Throughout the visit to Tbilisi, H.E. Ambassador Dr Noel Camilleri was accompanied by Mr Samuel Bezzina, First Secretary at the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade.
