On 27 May 2022, H.E. Juliana Scerri Ferrante presented her Letters of Credence as Ambassador of Malta to Kosovo to H.E. Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, President of the Republic of Kosovo.
President Osmani-Sadriu praised the good relations between Malta and Kosovo and expressed gratitude for Malta’s assistance since the establishment of diplomatic relations. She asked for the continuous support of Malta with regard to the process of Kosovo’s membership in international organizations, namely the European Union and the Council of Europe.
President Osmani-Sadriu further highlighted the importance of VISA liberalization for Kosovo and Ambassador Scerri Ferrante pledged that Malta will continue to support Kosovo in all its membership initiatives, as it has done so to date. Both interlocutors expressed interest in further deepening bilateral relations between Malta and Kosovo in the fields of foreign policy, trade exchange, education, tourism, and other areas of mutual interest.
During her stay in Kosovo, Ambassador Scerri Ferrante held meetings with Mr. Orhan Hajrizi, Head of Ceremonial Division at State Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo; Ambassador Albert Prenkaj, General Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora where the discussion focused on the issue of VISA liberalization and its importance for Kosovo, the renewal of the Cooperation Framework, facilitation of recognition for Kosovo, the possibility of an agreement on seasonal employment, and the Promotion and Protection of Investments; Ambassador H.E. Beqir Ismaili, Director of the Kosovo Diplomatic Academy where study visits to Malta were proposed as part of further collaboration ; the EU Special Representative in Kosovo at EU Office in Pristina, H.E. Tomáš Szunyog; and, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Kosovo, H.E. Qemal Minxhozi.
