Malta and Tunisia established diplomatic relations in 1967. Ever since, the bilateral relations between two countries have been excellent and continued to be strengthened over the years. The bilateral relations are marked by a number of important bilateral agreements and support to each other at the multilateral and regional level including strong collaboration in Mediterranean fora.

Together with other member countries of the European Union, Malta stands ready to support Tunisia in its democratic process. We share important objectives namely the promotion of peace and stability of the Mediterranean region, the creation of wealth and prosperity in the region for the benefit of our peoples, and the strengthening of understanding and tolerance among peoples.
